Oh my pyo ji - Movie Review

Ok so what we have got here ? The most controversial punjabi release ever. Earlier it was scheduled to release on june 6 and the to june 13 , but on june 12 there was a court order on ban on its release. Now ban was not due to subject or the film but due to infighting of producer , director. Earlier film was produced and directed by two folks , yuvraj bains and Niharika sahni both debutant producer and director but later it was only credited to Niharika Sahni. Perhaps they started out to make the film together till the other called it quits lol.
Coming to the review. The film was now released on an insane time , why ? arre sallu bhai ki KICK ke saath release karna pagalpanti nahi toh kaya. But fortunately for me it had few shows in ludhiana else where it didnt even get a single show.  Now cinema was packed because of obvious fan following of Bhalla and Binnu duo.  The film started out well the story is new and comedy is definitely genuine and you do laugh . Binnu is son of a Don and his father Khunkhar Singh(Sardar Sohi) is emabarassed that his son is illetrate and the other wants to become a singer. He wants to hand over his business to his sons but both are incapable , so one fine day he decides that Binnu will go to school and clear 10th exam in 10 months and his other son JJ(Babal Rai) should assist him in his business and give up singing . Thats the start of the film. What happens next is nothing less then hilarious. I wont give up the story so that whenever you may watch it (in cinema ,dvd or youtube your pick) you can enjoy it .

STORY

Its quiet rare that you come across such a story in punjabi movies. Story is surely Jara Hat ke. And its a genuine comical setup.

SCREENPLAY

Screenplay is somewhat good. But the way film flows it lacks scene cohesion . It might be due to the editing but still there are plenty of screenplay and character arcs missing. And the length of the film roughly 1:45 minutes explains that its a rush job there should have been atleast 20 minutes more movie time.

DIALOGUES

Dialogues are perhaps its only saving grace. They are nearly perfect genuinely timed they make you laugh everytime.  So kuddos to the writer its the only thing that makes movie watchable

EDITING, MUSIC AND OTHER STUFF

This has to be the worst edited movie ever. The scenes are cut halfway. Scenes come up loaded one after the other and in disoriented manner. If editing was right it could have been totally different movie all together. The background music was the worst feature , some hilarious dailogues were let down by totally kiddish background music. The songs were good but i have seen better music videos then the ones in this film. They are just there to increase the film length which was already too short.

DIRECTION

The film comes from debutant director Niharika Sahni. And she does everything but direction. The direction is directionless , i wonder how could someone miss the chance to make a better movie from such a good story , dialogues and stellar starcast. Perhaps she needs to go to some direction school spend few years . But its still good that she is experimenting with her own money and not some others by being the producer herself.

Marriage Da Garriage Review

Marriage Da Garriage Punjabi Movie Review

RATING 0 / 10

Star Cast - Navraj Hans , Keeya Khanna, BN Sharma, Jaswinder Bhalla, Upasna Singh, Deepak Raja, Shakti Kapoor, Rajjzak Khan

Director - Jaswinder Singh

Review - I had to adjust my rating system for this movie . Usually it is 5 numbered rating , but that would not do justice to this movie so i had to expand it to 10.

0 out of 10 , yes, it is precisely these kind of movies which have harmed Punjabi Film Industry, and its time for producers to know that you can spend all the money you have but still you cannot earn a dime if you produce a garbage like this.
The movie intimidates you, frustates you , almost all the audience which had gone to see the movie left with bitter taste even before the intermission. But i kept on sitting throughout the horror of a movie that is marriage da garriage.

So the film starts with a utterly nonsense scene of Jaswinder Bhalla and B N Sharma. I dont know what is wrong with B N Sharma in this one he is usually good but with kind of dialogues and character he was given he looks horrendously over acting. Jaswinder Bhallas one liners are no amusing either. His constant MUHAWARAs are highly irritating and his acting is below average. From the very start the director is clueless, these two con man come out of the jail and decide to open up a Marriage da Garriage. The numbering starts and we land on to another useless scene of Rana. I wouldnt dare to go through the horror of describing every scene of the movie so cutting my crap short , the story is worthless piece of junk , with no scenes interconnected. The main  lead of the movie Navraj Hans has screen space of no more then 10 minutes and reason for that is that he cannot act. But that too is due to lack of imagination from the director himself. He didnt stand a chance as he was virtually an extra in the movie, and personally i know when this happens when one artist takes lead control of the content and just wants himself on the screen, but again its directors duty to keep focus on the script , and when director is clueless this is what happens.

Shakti Kapoor was also wasted and upassna singh's good acting couldnt even save a single seen. But what could she do when she was working on a handicap of a script already. The whole story evolves around these two cons played by bhalla and BN . Major scenes keep on introducing useless and nonsense characters who apply in there marriage garriage. Nearly every scene is above 3 to 4 minutes of length. The background music was at best pathetic .  And if you had the guts to sit after interval i am sure you must have felt like dumbest being on the planet who is thinking why i just didnt leave when other people did.

The movie is prime time example of how would a layman make a movie without even knowing A of it. There is no Plot , there is no story, its just some rubbish jokes of jaswinder bhalla thrown on screen. I have seen better VCD's.

I think the producers of this movie havent seen the other movies from the same director , Vicky J , Jaswinder Singh . You N me , Rabb toh sona ishq. They were also horror movies and so is this one.

I never try to get personal and i am not being here either. But someone has to put an end to this kind of madness . It is ruining Punjabi movie industry , i am sure who ever went out to see this movie wont dare to go to a punjabi movie for atleast a year. Who wants to go and pay 150 bucks to  watch shit . Why cant producers see that its useless to pay high amount of money if they dont have a good script. And its high  time  for even actors to think will they go down in history as money eaters who mauled an emerging medium or people who did make money but also made sure that the industry is not harmed with these kind of misadventures. PERIOD.

Punjabi Films 2014

The trend of nose diving earnings in punjabi movies forced me to update this blog as less. I try to watch Punjabi Movies but the scale and audacity has really put me off so i only watch films which pass my barometer of WATCHABLE movies. And from watchable i mean i watch the trailer of a film and then decide if it is worth the money . Frankly everyone wants full bang for the buck , if someone has to watch those slapstick dailogue oriented comedy then why not watch comedy nights with kapil its better and free .LOL.  Anyways cinema is cinema so coming to the topic till today ,which is 25 march 2014 , punjabi cinema has seen few releases whose outcome is listed below. And believe me with me being an insider of the industry you can expect it to be exactly true. People make flop movies and beat their chest that its a hit , so i make sure a failure is labelled a failure a winner is labelled a winner and nothing more.

I personaly hate to see investors money go into the drainage but i insist that all is not lost one should understand the business read the script and then invest money into films . Else you could find your project listed here soon.

Punjabi Films Roundup 2013

Year 2013 will end up as a year in which most number of Punjabi films were released. The year opened up bad with much anticipated Saadi Love Story by acclaimed writer turned director Dheeraj Rattan going down the box office. Even though it had a stellar star cast it flopped.
Later mood was revived up by tun mera 22 mein tera 22 and it put up a decent show and turned out to be a average hit.
Pooja kiven aa nose dived just like her singing career. A film which I hesitate to even call a film was you n me and it has to be worse then a CD movie. Only two people who watched it were producer and director.
Stupid 7 was another stupid film . Same was with sajjan god knows why unprofessional people cheat producers with money.
Lucky di Unlucky Story was less then average and then came Jatt and Juliet 2 that set cash registers ringing.
Bikker Bai sentimental didnt made its investments.
Jatts in golmal and naughty jatts were successful.
Young Malang was  surprisingly fresh storytelling . It was typical Punjabi youth oriented movie but had some good characterizations , it also faired well at box office And probably give some breathing space to new producers.
Ashiqui Not Allowed , RSVP, HEER N HERO,JUST YOU N ME , ISHQ GARARI, OYE HOYE PYAAR HO GAYAA were all flop
Bhaji in problem was another below average affair.
The most disgusting movies that didn't even see single day were Rabb toh sona ishaq , risky munde,

The Unprofessional of punjabi cinema

The rise of Punjabi film industry is phenomenon and it has lead to eager investors and eager film makers . But it has also  turned, some of the most respected names in the industry, to become vultures. Their behaviour is unprofessional and cheap. With every hit they increase their price by 5 to 10 lakh but they do not decrease with every flop.
Some of the comedians are now charging double the amount of a lead actor but that's not all , they virtually blackmail the producer by not giving them exact dates and their word has no value. I will reveal more details later sometime,  but these guys are surely taking Punjabi movies to a dangerous position, they mislead gullible producers while knowing that no film is a hit just due to them.
In time they will be surely remembered as people who lead to fall of this industry. Its high time for producers to understand no comedian has caliber to make a movie hit and by paying too much fee they are sure to loose money at the end . So any new producer who want to make a Punjabi film should study it well and don't fall into the pit which every second producer falls in.
